Welcome to the Pilot-Hub Academy!

For prospective pilots, licence holders or simply aviation enthusiasts.

Our Academy will guide you through all the steps to register for flight training, pass the theory and practice and continue your education after successfully completing your training and obtaining your licence - for example with our masterclasses on flying abroad or for complex airfields!

Who is our Academy made for?

For newcomers

To begin with, we will help you get an overview of the various aviation licences and their training procedures. Of course, we also illustrate the steps to obtaining your own licence (e.g. obtaining a medical certificate, radiotelephony rights, etc.).

We also explain what class and type ratings are and how a licence can be extended (e.g. night flying).

During training

Training has begun! And now?

We help you find the right materials and resources and provide an overview of the various theoretical subjects such as navigation, meteorology, aviation law and more.

We'll give you our best tips to help you successfully prepare for the theory test and your first practical lessons. There is also a small preview of what you can expect after your training!

Our masterclasses

And after receiving the licence?

In aviation in particular, there are always new challenges and therefore opportunities for further development.

We will show you what options there are for extending your licence (e.g. instrument flight) and how these can be achieved. We also give you useful tips for everyday flight planning.

In addition, our masterclasses will help you with major challenges - such as flying abroad or approaching a complex airport.

Overview of the practical training and examination for IR authorisations

The practical training and examination are central components of obtaining an instrument rating (IR). They ensure that pilots have the necessary skills to operate safely and efficiently under instrument flight rules (IFR). In this article, we provide an overview of the practical training for the three types of IR (BIR, CB-IR, classic IR), the practical examination procedure and tips for preparation.

Overview of the theoretical examination for IR authorisations

The theoretical examination is an essential part of obtaining an instrument rating (IR). It ensures that pilots have the necessary knowledge to operate safely and efficiently under instrument flight rules (IFR). In this article, we provide an overview of the theoretical examinations for the three types of IR (BIR, CB-IR, IR), the procedure and helpful tips for preparation.

The subject of IFR communication within the framework of the instrument rating (IR)

The subject IFR communication provides the knowledge and skills required to ensure clear, precise and compliant communication in instrument flight operations. Radio communication is the backbone of co-operation between air and ground radio stations and contributes significantly to the safety and efficiency of air traffic. This article provides an overview of the content of the subject.

5 January 2025

The subject of radio navigation as part of the Instrument Rating (IR)

The subject of radio navigation provides the knowledge required to use radio navigation aids effectively and to navigate safely through controlled and uncontrolled airspace. Radio navigation covers a wide range of technologies and concepts, from classic ground radio stations to modern satellite navigation systems. This article provides an overview of the content of this subject. It is important to emphasise that this is only part of the content covered in the theory training.

5 January 2025

The subject of meteorology within the framework of the Instrument Rating (IR)

Meteorology is one of the central subjects in the theoretical training for Instrument Rating (IR). It provides the necessary knowledge to analyse and evaluate weather conditions and anticipate their effects on the flight. This knowledge is crucial for the safety and efficiency of flights, especially in instrument flight operations.

5 January 2025

The subject of human performance in the context of the Instrument Rating (IR)

Human factors deals with the psychological, physiological and social factors that influence the behaviour and performance of pilots. The aim of this subject is to provide pilots with an in-depth understanding of human strengths and weaknesses in order to minimise risks and maximise safety in flight operations. It is important to emphasise that the content presented here is only exemplary. A full discussion takes place as part of the theoretical training.

Course overview

For the launch of our Pilot Hub, we thought about what information you need best and most. We have put together the first courses for this very purpose.

We are already working flat out on further courses, which we will publish in 2025!

Pilot licences - The basics

This course offers everyone a basic introduction to flying licences. We give you a detailed description of every step up to the licence and insights into important basics such as airspaces, aircraft, costs of flying and flight planning.

In this module you will gain an insight into class and type ratings that can typically be acquired.

In this module we will show you the individual steps up to the start of your own flight training and obtaining your licence.

In this module, we will guide you through your first steps as a qualified pilot. You will also receive tips on flight planning and useful software.

LAPL / PPL - Theoretical and practical training

Would you like to start LAPL or PPL training?
Then this course will give you an overview of the process, the materials required and the theoretical and practical training. We will give you an insight into the various theory subjects, the theory test procedure and also a few tips for the practical test.

This course follows on seamlessly from the course "Pilot Licences - The Basics"!

We will give you a general overview of the training programme and initial tips on the materials you will need.

In this module we will show you how the practical exam for the LAPL / PPL licence works and give you a few useful tips.

Masterclass - Radiotelephony

The subject of radiotelephony (also known as aeronautical radio) is often only touched on in theory. Even though there are various publications on this subject (especially from German Air Traffic Control - DFS for short), we would like to briefly summarise everything that is important and relevant.

As an experienced pilot in particular, it can always be useful to remind yourself of this!

In this module we will show you practical tips for radiotelephony in private aviation.

Masterclass - Everyday life as a pilot

Not every aerodrome is easy to approach - and the rules for such approaches are certainly not always easy to understand. That's why we're not only going to focus on general tips for everyday piloting, but also create so-called Airport Classes for selected aerodromes, which will guide you step by step to a successful approach and departure!

In this module, we provide you with useful tips and tricks to successfully fly to even the most complicated major airports!

Das Instrument Rating (neu)

This course offers a basic introduction to the instrument flight training programme. We cover the classic IR, the Competency-based IR (CB-IR) and the new Basic IR (B-IR).

Why use a rating instrument at all? What are the advantages and differences between the individual variants?

In this module, we will guide you through your first steps in practice and on the way to the practical examination. We will also give you practical tips for the time after your training.
