  • Flights according to instrument flight rules (IFR) with the prior authorisation of the responsible Air traffic control centre

Pilots can use a Permission to fly through about Radiotelephony enquire.

2. activation times of the restricted flight areas

The exercise takes place over two days:

  • 18 February 2025
  • 20 February 2025
  • In each case from 08:00 UTC to 12:00 UTC

3 Affected airspaces and coordinates

Various temporary flight restriction areas will be set up for the "MAGDAY 02-25" exercise:

Flight restriction area "ED-R MAGDAY Fight" (FL100 - FL660)

  • This area extends over parts of German airspace with transitions to the French and Luxembourg borders.

Conclusion and recommendations for pilots

The establishment of these restricted flight areas is a Necessary measureto ensure the safety of air traffic during the military exercise.

Pilots should take the following measures:

  • Check NOTAMs thoroughly before every flightto ensure that planned routes do not pass through the exercise areas.
  • Apply for a transit permitif a flight through the affected airspace is unavoidable.
  • Plan alternative flight routesto avoid delays or detours.
  • Follow ATC instructions exactlyespecially in the neighbouring airspaces.

The military exercise "MAGDAY 02-25" requires a dedicated flight planning and increased attention of pilots in the affected regions. An early study of the airspace structure and detailed flight preparation are essential in order to ensure safe and smooth flights.
