I. General information on the designation of hazardous areas
- Location of the danger zones: The danger zones are regularly located over the high seas outside the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. They cover strategically relevant zones for military exercises.
- Dangers for aviation: The danger areas are used for activities such as artillery firing, air combat exercises and military training flights. Due to these dangers, pilots are urgently requested to avoid the areas or to coordinate with the responsible air traffic control centre in advance.
- Instructions for pilots:
- Travelling through these areas is associated with considerable risks.
- Controlled flights can be authorised by air traffic control if necessary.
- Uncontrolled flights receive information via the Flight Information Service (FIS).
- Communication of changes: Temporal or spatial changes to the danger areas are announced via NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen).
- Technical specifications:
- Coordinates: Data in the geodetic reference system WGS 84.
- Times: In Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), details for summer time (CEST) in brackets.
- Validity: The temporal effectiveness of the areas excludes public holidays, unless otherwise stated.
