Aircraft: Piper Meridien Location: Kassel-Calden

During the third landing attempt at Kassel-Calden, the crew forgot to lower the landing gear due to increased workload and familiarisation with the warning tone, which resulted in serious damage to the aircraft.

On 10 August 2023, there was an accident involving a Piper Meridian at Kassel-Calden Airport, in which the aircraft touched down with its landing gear retracted and was severely damaged without any injuries.

The flight, which took off from Reichelsheim with a flight instructor and two student pilots on board, was aimed at aerodrome circuit and landing training. During the flight, a permanent acoustic warning occurred due to a sensor fault, which could not be rectified even after a mechanic attempted to find the fault.
