NFL 2025-1-3728 - New flight restriction zone ED-R Klixbüll in Bremen airspace

Last updated on 5 January 2026
At the turn of the year 2025/2026, a new area with flight restrictions will be established in the Bremen flight information region. The ED-R Klixbüll serves to safeguard a research project and is valid for a period of one year. The measure affects all aircraft, including drones and model aircraft, and must be permanently taken into account in flight planning for general aviation.

Location and extent

The ED-R Klixbüll is defined as a circle with a radius of 0.8 NM around the position 54°48′22″ N 008°51′53″ E. Vertically, the area extends from the ground to 2,500 feet above ground level. It is located in the Bremen flight information area.

Temporal validity

The flight restriction applies from 31 December 2025, 23:00 UTC, until 31 December 2026, 23:00 UTC.

Type of restrictions

All flights are prohibited within the ED-R. This includes manned aircraft, unmanned aerial systems and model aircraft.

Exceptions

Excluded from the restrictions are state aircraft, emergency flights of the armed forces, police flights, rescue and disaster control missions and ambulance flights. In addition, flights carried out on behalf of SkySails Power GmbH are permitted, provided that prior agreement has been reached and authorisation has been granted by the responsible air traffic control authority. Clearance to fly through can be requested by radiotelephone in individual cases.

Notes for the practice

Violations of the flight restrictions will be prosecuted. Due to its one-year validity, the ED-R Klixbüll must be permanently taken into account in flight preparation, in navigation databases and in route planning.
