General aviation news: Temporary designation of an area with flight restrictions during a military exercise The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport Affairs has issued an important announcement in accordance with Section 17 (1) sentence 2 of the Air Traffic Regulations in the version dated 29 October 2015 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 1894). This concerns the temporary designation of an area with flight restrictions as part of a military exercise.

The defined area with flight restrictions, called "ED-R Fassberg", is located in the Bremen flight information region. It extends laterally from 530130N0095730E to 524830N0095730E, then on to 524830N0102144E, from there to 530130N0102145E and finally back to 530130N0095730E. Vertically, the area extends from ground level to FL100. The temporal effectiveness of the flight restrictions extends from 08/06/2024 0600 UTC to 1500 UTC.

In accordance with the flight restrictions, all flights within the defined area are prohibited, with the exception of the aircraft involved in the exercise. This also includes the operation of model aircraft and unmanned aerial systems. However, there are exceptions for state aircraft, police flights, rescue and civil protection missions, ambulance flights and flights under instrument flight rules, provided they have received prior authorisation from the relevant air traffic control unit.
