This applies in particular:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visual flights (VFR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gliders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Microlight aircraft<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helicopters in civilian operation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drone flights (UAS)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Model flying activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Exceptions apply exclusively to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aircraft of the Bundeswehr and allied armed forces (e.g. USAF)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>State aircraft<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Police operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rescue and disaster control flights<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ambulance flights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All other flights are prohibited without exception - coordination with air traffic control or subsequent clearance is not provided for in this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Significance for general aviation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The restricted flight area <strong>ED-R Ramstein<\/strong> has a direct impact on local air traffic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gliding clubs<\/strong> and <strong>Sports airfields<\/strong> in the surrounding area - including Landstuhl, Kusel, Zweibr\u00fccken and Pirmasens - must avoid the airspace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Drone flights<\/strong> (e.g. for agricultural or photographic purposes) are not permitted during the activation periods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flying schools<\/strong> and <strong>Tour operator<\/strong> in the region must adapt their training and adventure flights accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Background: Ramstein as a key location for military logistics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Ramstein Air Base<\/strong> is a NATO hub for operations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. It is regularly the scene of large-scale exercises for <strong>logistical operational support<\/strong>, <strong>Evacuation scenarios<\/strong>, <strong>Deployment of troops<\/strong> or for the preparation of <strong>multinational airlift operations<\/strong>.
