The trade fair showcased the entire spectrum of general aviation - from gliders and ultralight aircraft to single and twin-engine piston aircraft to modern turboprops, helicopters and drone systems.

Particularly striking:

As in previous years, Hall A1 (gliding) was very well attended.

Hall A7 was all about alternative drive systems, especially electric and hydrogen technologies.

30 different rotorcraft were exhibited in Heli-Hangar B5 - a record for the AERO.

The ultralight scene presented itself as colourful, technically innovative and internationally well networked.

Business aviation on a new level

One highlight was the greatly expanded presentation of business aviation. With the new Business Aviation Show Hub (BASH) and the light-flooded BizAv Dome The Static Display not only set an architectural exclamation mark, but also featured the largest line-up of business jets ever seen at a European trade fair this year. This emphasises the growing importance of this segment within general aviation.

Technological premieres and sustainable concepts

AERO 2025 was also a trade fair of premieres. Particular attention was paid to the RX4Ea fully electric four-seater light aircraft from China, which celebrated its European premiere in Friedrichshafen. Test pilot Xiaoben Xu has already completed over 1,000 flight hours with the model - impressive proof of the suitability of this new technology for everyday use.

Other premieres included:

The new Pilatus PC-12 PROa turboprop flagship from Switzerland with enhanced avionics functions and more power.

The Smartflyera hybrid-electric aircraft concept from Switzerland that offers a low-emission alternative to conventional engines on short-haul routes.

Overall, the trade fair clearly focussed on sustainable aviation technologiesHydrogen, electric drives, hybrid systems and new materials dominated the discussions and the exhibitor areas, especially at the e-flight-expo and the associated airshow.

Focus on young talent: AERO Career Days

The AERO Career Days were another important part of the trade fair. More than 30 companies - from flight schools to aircraft manufacturers and maintenance companies - presented their training programmes. At a time when there is an increasing shortage of skilled labour in the aviation industry, the trade fair sends out an important signal for the promotion of young talent. Talks with HR managers, direct contacts and insights into various professions in the industry made the Career Days a highly frequented programme item.

AERO as a global brand - Friedrichshafen as the centrepiece

With Friedrichshafen as the starting point, the AERO brand will be further strengthened internationally. In June 2025, the next AERO South Africa followed by the AERO Asia in November. This global expansion is helping to promote international exchange within general aviation and to make regional specialities more visible.

The next AERO Friedrichshafen has already been scheduled: 22 to 25 April 2026 - A must-attend event for anyone interested in current developments and future trends in aviation.

Conclusion: A trade fair with a signalling effect

AERO 2025 was convincing in every respect. Exhibitors praised the Organisation, internationality and high quality of trade visitors. The media response was also consistently positive. The strong presence of sustainable innovations, the growing business aviation segment and the targeted promotion of young talent emphasise AERO's role as the leading trade fair for general aviation - not only in Europe, but worldwide.

At a time when the aviation industry is undergoing fundamental change, AERO offers a platform for orientation, exchange and new beginnings - and thus remains the central forum for manufacturers, operators, pilots, associations and enthusiasts of general aviation.

Source references:
Aviation magazine

AERO 2025 has once again positioned itself as the world's most important trade fair for general aviation - and set new standards in the process.
