Below is a selection of the most important ED-R areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1st ED-R 1 (Garching)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lateral boundary<\/strong>Circle with 0.8 nm radius<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lower limit<\/strong>: Earth surface<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Upper limit<\/strong>3,600 feet above sea level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Temporal effectiveness<\/strong>24 hours a day, even on public holidays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Remark<\/strong>IFR flights are exempt from the restriction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. ED-R 7 (Brunsb\u00fcttel)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lateral boundary<\/strong>Circle with 0.8 nm radius<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Upper limit<\/strong>2,000 feet above sea level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Temporal effectiveness<\/strong>24 hours a day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7th ED-R 10 (Todendorf-Putlos)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The largest new flight restriction area with several <strong>Sectors<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sector A - E<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Limitations between <strong>3,000 and 40,000 feet above sea level<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Temporal effectiveness: <strong>Monday to Saturday<\/strong> - Extension at weekends if required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What does this mean for general aviation pilots?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. careful flight planning is required<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pilots must ensure before each flight that the route <strong>does not cross any active flight restriction areas<\/strong>. These are <strong>NOTAMs and the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP)<\/strong> to be checked regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2.
