General regulations for restricted flight areas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Flight conditions<\/strong><br>Restricted flight areas may not be flown through unless:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The restrictions explicitly allow this.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General or individual authorisation has been granted by the Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Traffic Control (BAF) or the air traffic control unit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Military or rescue flights were coordinated and authorised accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IFR and VFR flights<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>IFR flights can be released during inactive activities in the area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>VFR flights require a request and confirmation, whereby a permanent radio readiness for communication with air traffic control is mandatory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Announcement of changes<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changes to time effectiveness or vertical limitations will be published by NOTAM (Notice to Airmen).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flight operations at aerodromes in restricted areas<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Local regulations for aerodromes, gliding sites or air sports equipment are agreed between the users and the responsible authorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Coordinates and times<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coordinates are based on the geodetic reference system WGS 84.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Times are given in UTC, with references to Central European Summer Time (CEST).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ICAO airspace classification<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Standard ICAO rules apply unless specific conditions for airspace users have been defined.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>II. Overview of areas with flight restrictions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1st ED-R 1 (Garching)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope:<\/strong> Radius of 0.8 nm around point 48\u00b016'07\u2033N 11\u00b040'28\u2033E.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Height limit:<\/strong> Earth surface up to 3600 feet above sea level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period:<\/strong> 24 hours a day, even on public holidays.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Special feature:<\/strong> IFR flights are exempt from the restriction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. ED-R 3 (Geesthacht\/Kr\u00fcmmel)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope:<\/strong> Radius of 1.1 nm around point 53\u00b024'25\u2033N 10\u00b025'10\u2033E.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Height limit:<\/strong> Earth surface up to 2200 feet above sea level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period:<\/strong> 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. ED-R 4 (Wannsee)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope:<\/strong> Sector with 2 nm radius around point 52\u00b024'38\u2033N 13\u00b007'46\u2033E.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Height limit:<\/strong> Earth surface up to 2200 feet above sea level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period:<\/strong> 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. ED-R 5 (Biblis)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope:<\/strong> Radius of 0.8 nm around point 49\u00b042'34\u2033N 8\u00b024'56\u2033E.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Height limit:<\/strong> Earth surface up to 2300 feet above sea level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period:<\/strong> 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5. ED-R 6 (Brokdorf)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope:<\/strong> Radius of 0.8 nm around point 53\u00b051'08\u2033N 9\u00b020'42\u2033E.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Height limit:<\/strong> Earth surface up to 2000 feet above sea level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period:<\/strong> 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>6. ED-R 8 (Emsland)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope:<\/strong> Radius of 0.8 nm around point 52\u00b028'19\u2033N 7\u00b019'16\u2033E.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Height limit:<\/strong> Earth surface up to 2100 feet above sea level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period:<\/strong> 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>III Special regulations for military exercises<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ED-R 10 (Todendorf-Putlos)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sectors A to E:<\/strong> Different expansions with height limits from 3000 feet to 40000 feet above sea level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Period:<\/strong> Monday 07:00 UTC to Saturday 14:00 UTC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extended activation times on weekends and public holidays will be announced by NOTAM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IV. Effects and information for pilots<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pilots operating in the vicinity of restricted flight areas should regularly inform themselves via NOTAMs and aeronautical radio about the activation of these areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exceptions apply for rescue and military flights, but only after prior coordination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new regulations are intended to ensure a high level of safety, especially in areas with potential hazards such as shooting exercises, blasting or military manoeuvres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These changes mark an important step towards improving air traffic control and safety standards.
