This area has a geographical extent defined by coordinates between 49\u00b0 29\u2032 55\u2033 N and 7\u00b0 25\u2032 00\u2033 E, with a vertical limit from the ground (GND) to a height of <strong>FL100<\/strong> (approx. 10,000 feet).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The affected area includes an important airspace that will be closed to civil aircraft movements during the conference in order to minimise potential safety risks from the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Affected flights and exceptions<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this area <strong>all flights, including the operation of drones and model aircraft<\/strong>, prohibited. However, exceptions apply to certain categories of flights, including<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>State aircraft<\/strong>, which are directly related to the Ukraine conference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flights according to instrument flight rules (IFR)<\/strong> above 3,600 feet MSL, whereby alternate procedures (Y\/Z flight plans) are not permitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flights to and from Ramstein (ETAR)<\/strong> as well as inserts of the <strong>German Armed Forces<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Police flights<\/strong>and <strong>Rescue and disaster control operations<\/strong> and <strong>Ambulance flights<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All authorised flights under visual flight rules must be registered in advance with the <strong>Rhineland-Palatinate State Police<\/strong> and authorised by them. The flights are subject to a permanent listening watch on the frequency <strong>135.600 MHz<\/strong> (\u201ePolice Info\u201c) to ensure that they can maintain contact with the relevant authorities at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Radio communication and transponder obligation (RMZ\/TMZ Ramstein)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the flight restrictions, a <strong>Radio and Transponder Mandatory Zone (RMZ\/TMZ)<\/strong> for the airspace around Ramstein. This zone has a radius of <strong>30 nautical miles<\/strong> and extends from GND to <strong>FL100<\/strong>. Within this zone, all aircraft are obliged to report their position and flight intentions on the frequency <strong>135.600 MHz<\/strong> and the transponder code <strong>A3777<\/strong> to send.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exempt from this regulation are, among others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bundeswehr flights<\/strong> and flights of the <strong>allied forces<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Police flights<\/strong> as well as rescue and disaster relief flights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Source references:<\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eisenschmidt.aero\/nfl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NFL (the link requires a subscription to Eisenschmidt)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 8 October 2024, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport published an announcement on the establishment of temporary flight restrictions on the occasion of a Ukraine conference taking place on 12 October 2024.
