Aero 2024: New aircraft types

Last updated on 5 May 2024
At this year's AERO, the leading trade fair for general aviation in Europe, leading aircraft manufacturers presented an impressive range of new developments, ranging from high-performance competition aircraft and versatile microlights to pioneering electric aircraft.

Competition flying redefined: Extra 330SX

Extra Aircraft, known for its top performance in aerobatics, presented the new 330SX, a single-seater designed specifically for ambitious aerobatic pilots. The 330SX, a further development of the 330SC, which has already won several world championship titles, is characterised by improved agility and an optimised centre of gravity. The aircraft is equipped with a 315 hp Lycoming AEIO-580-B1A engine and offers an improved roll rate thanks to modified ailerons.

Ultralight and powerful: ATEC 321 Faeta NG and Breezer B850

ATEC returned after a break with the 321 Faeta NG, a sporty carbon fibre low-wing aircraft equipped with a 100 hp Rotax 912 iS sports engine. The Breezer B850, presented by Breezer Aircraft, was a modern tug with a turbo Rotax 916 iS engine that delivers 160 hp and is suitable for both travelling and flight training.

Revolution in electric flight technology: Diamond eDA40 and Aura Aero Integral E

Diamond Aircraft unveiled the eDA40, a battery-powered trainer aircraft designed to set a new standard in flight training. The eDA40, powered by a Safran ENGINeUSTM electric motor, is intended for EASA and FAA certification. Aura Aero introduced the Integral E, an electric version of its successful Integral series designed specifically for pilot training and aerobatic training.

Safety and comfort: Cirrus SR Series G7

Cirrus Aircraft brought along the latest generation of its SR Series, the G7. This aircraft sets new standards in safety and comfort, equipped with the Cirrus Perspective Touch+ avionics package from Garmin, improved visibility thanks to a new cockpit layout and additional safety features such as a stick shaker and flap airspeed protection.

Turbine power and innovation: Grob G 120TP and Shark.Aero

Grob Aircraft presented the G 120TP, an aerobatic turbine trainer that is characterised by moderate operating costs and even featured a VR simulator at the trade fair. Shark.Aero provided information about its "Turbulence Cancelling" technology, which can significantly reduce turbulence effects.

AERO 2024 provided a platform for remarkable technological advances and innovations that will significantly shape the landscape of general aviation.
